Julie needs an external Bluetooth speaker for events that she sponsors. Leo says she can get a Fugoo Speaker, which is great for mobile outdoor activity, but it's not that loud for large group events.
John is looking for a new camera to shoot real estate. He's thinking of the Nikon D3400. Leo says that's a good option, and it not only shoots great shots, but it can also shoot 1080p HD video. The real benefit of a DSLR is the glass and Nikon makes some of the best lenses.
Jane wants to know if there's a website where she can input what she wants in a computer for gaming and get a recommendation. Leo says that kind of exists, and she can find it at The Wirecutter. She can find out what they say is the best for her needs.
Mark is looking to buy a Chromebase. Leo says that if all he does is surf the internet and check email, the Chromebase is just as good as that Chromebook that Mark has. It's very easy to use, and secure too. He's seen a 24" Acer model on Amazon for $350. Is that a good buy? Leo says yes. It's kind of like an iMac in design, and Acer makes good stuff, but he's seen it for up to $300 more. Leo says to make sure he is comparing apples to apples with similar specs.
Vidac wants to buy a good pair of headphones for radio work. What's a good pair? Leo says the most comfortable and accurate are the ones that Leo uses – AKG K240s. They're very affordable at only $50. He can even buy replacement earpieces when they wear out.
Ronette would like to upgrade her Nikon D3300 and Panasonic Lumix G3 digital cameras. What would be the next level? Leo says that the next step would be to go with a bigger sensor, like full frame. That will give her more dynamic range and the ability to take in more light. Leo says that mirrorless cameras like the Sony A7 could work. They are remarkable, but many photographers prefer the 'through the lens' mirror design. The quality of the images would be the same, so it really comes down to preference.
Bill is looking to get his son a new computer. He wants a desktop. Is that still a good option? Leo says that desktops are becoming less popular, but there are still some great models out there. Bill's son also wants to game. All-in-Ones are designed to be aesthetically pleasing, but not practical for upgrading or repairs. A tower is really a better way to go, especially for gaming.
Scott is a long haul trucker and he wants a printer for his cab. He has heard that the constant jarring and jiggling while driving on the road will turn the ink into gel. Is that true? Leo isn't sure, but an inexpensive laser printer would work better because it uses a powdered toner that is placed on with static electricity and heat. So the vibration wouldn't likely affect printing.
John's old Vista laptop can no longer get updates so he's looking to buy a new laptop. His budget is around $600. Leo says that Acer and Asus make good budget laptops. HP's Spectre is really good. But for what John does, a Chromebook is even better. Dell, Asus, and Acer all make them, and for $500, he can get a lot of machine. They're also more secure.
