How can I customize my Ring doorbell tone?

Ditto Wearable Tech for Smartphones

Episode 1282

Paul from Louisville, CA

Paul has a Ring Doorbell and an Arlo motion detection camera connected to his mobile phone. The problem is that the Ring notification is so brief, he misses it. Can he use a watch to get a better notification? Leo says it's very annoying that you can't customize the Ring notification, especially if more than one person in the office has it. The Ring works with the Apple Watch and it would give him haptic feedback that buzzes his wrist. He'd feel it, but it's also distracting. The Galaxy Gear S2 would also be good if he's on Android.

Should I buy an Apple Watch?

Apple Watch

Episode 1241

Robert from California

Robert is wondering if he should buy an Apple Watch or if there's a better option out there. Leo says that the first thing is to be sure he has an iPhone to support it, which must be an iPhone 5 or newer. Once he's passed that hurdle, he'll have to realize that the Apple Watch is really not all that necessary to every day life unless he has a specific need for it, like fitness or medical applications. It's kind of cool that you can answer your phone through your watch, though, and Apple Pay works great with it. But Leo says if he's asking if he should get it, then Leo says no.

Apple Watch Sport

Episode 1236

Sheila from North Carolina

Sheila and her husband share an Apple ID and now that they have Apple Watches, every time his phone rings, it rings on her watch. Leo says that Apple associates the watch to an account and Apple uses the Apple ID to ring the watch. So Sheila's easy fix is to use her own separate ID for hers. The reason to share the IDs isn't really that important anymore since there is a Family Share option for music and videos. Reminders can be shared to other Apple IDs, so they'd still be able to have a shared list.
