Windows 7 - Bill Gates talking to Microsoft shareholders tells them some time in the next year Microsoft will release the the next version of Windows. Could this mean Vista is a flop? Seems par for the Microsoft course to release a new system every two years.

Vista SP1 is not bad. Asking for a password on system file changes is not bad, but it Windows Vista UAC is being called Nervous Nellie - Jet-DB vulnerability affects XP - Not Vista - Good for Vista. Vista SP1 checks for driver compatibility - before it is offered as an automatic upgrade, don’t force your upgrade, be patient to get the automatic update. Vista SP1 is not a critical upgrade you have all the critical updates already if you are using automatic updates -like you should be.

Q Gene in Irvine Calf. - Refurbished iBook Brightness Control?

Gene had a iBook G4 w/broken lcd that he fixed - Leo is impressed. But Gene has no brightness control with his keyboard or Apple OSX-Leopard. What gives?

Leo thinks that is just how unique and near magic hardware technology is. If you deviate a little from the specs it changes your results.

Q Bill In San Diego Calif - Wants to Upgrade his TV

Bill has an All Pioneer Home theater - Wonders about the plasma’s from Pioneer because they are discontinuing their own manufacturing of the TV’s.

Leo Says Pioneer will still be offering plasma TVsm just out sourcing their manufacturing to Panasonic.

Bill also wants to know about what New Emerging Tech to look for?

Leo’s basic answer is “not much” for the every day consumer.

Sony’s OLEDs 11″ dispay for $2100 Looks Cool - But because of it’s price OLEDs are Still some time off until they can bring the price down.

Watch for New Flash SSDs - Solid State Dives - but watch out, they have limits - flash drives can only be written to a set number of times before they fail and they don’t know how long that is. What is promising though about SSDs are they are low power, durable, and light weight. An iPod Nano uses something like them.

Leo says he needs any Bluetooth compatable phone

Also Nick is looking for a digital Converter Box for his TV.

Leo says the digital converter boxes will do an HD signal but the output connector will change the type of HD tv it connects to. And you need a new Over The Air antenna.

The converter boxes are only for analog TVs - New TVs do not need them.
