There were a lot of new product releases this year, but here’s a list of the most significant and best products of 2017:
Eve V is the first ever crowd-developed 2-in-1 laptop/tablet computer. The details were discussed, debated, and decided on by a community of over 1,000 people. It has a Scandinavian design, made of low-friction glass, sand-blasted aluminum, and Alcantara fabric. It's light and strong, with a body that's only 0.89cm thin. It features a 12.3 inch 2880x1920 IGZO LCD display with nearly 6 million pixels. The screen surface is Gorilla Glass with anti-fingerprint and anti-reflection coating, and it has a 2MP front-facing camera, and a 5MP camera on the back.
Amazon's Echo Dot is a smaller version of the Echo smart speaker. It's a hands-free, voice-controlled device that uses Amazon's Alexa assistant to play music, control smart home devices, provide information, set alarms, answer questions, and much more.
Amazon's Echo Dot can connect to speakers or headphones through Bluetooth or the 3.5mm headphone jack. It can then play music from Prime Music, Spotify, Pandora, TuneIn, iHeartRadio, and can play audiobooks.
The Google Home Mini is a smaller version of the Google Home smart speaker. It's powered by Google Assistant, and has a decorative fabric covering that comes in three different colors so that it won't look out of place in the home.
Google Assistant excels at answering any of the random questions you might have for it. It can give you the latest weather, traffic, finance, sports, and more. It can recognize your voice and integrate with your calendars, reminders, and other personalized information. You can also use it to make and receive phone calls.
The new Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL have several improvements over the original Pixel that was launched last year. Among the updates is the camera, which got the highest rating of any smartphone camera from DxO-Mark with a score of 98. It can take impressive photos in any lighting, and it can accomplish this with the help of Google’s computational photography and machine learning. It also includes “Portrait Mode” which blurs the background of the subject, and it works on both the front facing and rear facing cameras.
iPhone X (pronounced "ten") is a completely redesigned smartphone that follows the latest trend of getting rid of bezels. It features a brand new OLED screen that goes all the way to the edges. This means there is no longer a Home button at the bottom — instead you swipe up from the bottom of the screen to return to the home screen, and swipe up and pause to enter the app switcher.
Tiny Hardware Firewall is a simple and effective way to keep your devices and data safe when using WiFi hotspots. This is especially useful when traveling, because using a public hotspot can broadcast your identity and traffic to anyone else on the network. Any of the three Tiny Hardware Firewall products will keep others from knowing the content of your internet traffic, your identity, IP address, DNS requests, or your physical location. This protection works for anything connected to the WiFi hotspot it provides, including Apple Watch, phones, tablets, and laptops.
The Apple Watch Series 3 was recently released, and its marquee feature is cellular connectivity with LTE. You can now answer calls, use Siri to send messages, stream music, get notifications from apps, and more while leaving your iPhone behind.
Apple's iPhone 8 and 8 Plus feature a new all-glass design that is color matched with an aluminum band surrounding it. The glass back allows for wireless charging, and iPhone 8 supports the Qi standard that is compatible with many third party charging mats that are already available.
The Mavic Pro is one of DJI's premiere portable drones, able to be controlled with the remote controller's OcuSync technology from 7 km away. It can fly at 65 km/h and supports 4K Ultra HD video at 30 fps (stabilized by a 3-axis gimbal), as well as video streaming at 1080p and 720p. The ActiveTrack feature allows the camera to Trace, Profile, or "Spotlight" the subject while flying smoothly around it. FlightAutonomy allows it to avoid obstacles 15 m in front of it while flying up to 22 mph.
