Here are Dick's three favorite gadgets from 2018.
Fastest way to mute sound, ever! Need to shut the sound of the TV when the phone rings, or someone shouts to you from another room? Finding the “Mute” button on the typical remote is no easy chore, especially in a darkened room. Enter the giant Smash Mute button! The Smash Mute learns the mute signal from any television remote control allowing the user to mute that television in a second or two. The big red button is approximately 200x larger than the average TV mute button. It takes two AA batteries which are not included. You do have to program the Smash Mute Button, but that takes about 20 seconds! And the instructions are printed in big letters. One thing to be aware of -- after your Smash Mute Button blinks twice to let you know its programmed, move the switch from 'learn' to 'use' very quickly. Outside of that, all is SO easy! It got 4.5 out of 5 stars on Amazon from almost 100 people. It was $19.50 on Amazon 3/18/18, and it was still that price on 1/4/19.

Turbo Pot has come up with a new design for cookware. First, here's some info from the company: Constructed of heavy-duty 304-grade stainless steel, the Turbo Pot cookware line is engineered to outperform the standard pot by significantly improving the heat transfer of open-flame range cooking. Turbo Pot heats up between 35 and 50 percent faster than regular cookware. Highly conductive heat exchanger “fins” at the base of the cookware to dramatically improve heat transfer and optimize fuel efficiency. As you'll see in Dick's video, even though his test was very basic, those heat exchanger-fins on the bottom of the pot do speed up cooking time. Be aware this "fins" cooking advantage works for gas cooktops only and does not speed up cooking time for electric or induction cooktops. There are about 6 different Turbo Pot Cookware items in the line so far.

For kids, but adults will love it too:
Watermelon Smash - a fun way to get wet.
This is a fun twist on the water roulette game. It challenges each player to press the watermelon against their head as many times as the number on the spinner. It's suspenseful because you never know when the watermelon will fully crack open. If it cracks on your turn, you either get covered with water or plastic watermelon seeds and you are out of the game. Be the last player left to avoid having the watermelon crack open and you win. Great for indoor play with seeds or outdoor play with water. The seeds are plastic and looked to be harmless, but not nearly as much fun as having it filled with water. Suggested Age is 6 Years and Up. MSRP $19.99.
