Ken's Verizon contract is up and he's looking at what new phone he should get to replace his current Blackberry. Leo says that the Blackberry Q10 looks pretty good with it's new BB10 OS, touch screen, and real keyboard.
Windows Phone 8
Bill is looking to get his first smartphone. Which one should he get? Windows Phone 8, Android or iPhone?
On Tuesday, October 23rd, Apple is expected to announce a smaller, 7.85" iPad. They also may announce upgrades for the Mac Mini, iMac, and 13" Macbook Pro with Retina display (these are just rumors, we don't know for sure).
On Thursday, October 25th, Microsoft has their party for the release of Windows 8. They'll start selling Windows 8 Surface Tablets and computers on Friday.
Rob decided to switch and went from the iPhone to the Nokia Lumia 900 running Windows Phone 7. But now he's stuck since Windows Phone 8 won't be backward compatible. The Lumia 920 is coming and he's stuck in a 2 year contract! Leo says he understands that, cause he gets stuck that way as well. This is why he buys phones unlocked and unsubsidized. It's more expensive, but over the long run, it's actually cheaper.
Samsung will announce the Galaxy Note II with a larger screen on the 29th. September 5 will be the next Nokia Windows Phone 8 handset. Motorola and Google will be announcing something the same day, while Amazon will announce the new Kindle Fire tablet on September 6th.
Then there's that Apple iPhone announcement on September 12th, and some think the iPad mini will be announced a few weeks later. Leo is starting to think that Apple is leaking news to manage the cycle, but nobody really knows. What we do know is that September will be a crazy month for the technology industry.
