Tom got a message from his iPhone 11 Pro that his phone was almost full. So he's been moving stuff off. But how does he back up his playlists? Leo says you can do it wirelessly. Go into settings and look in "about" to see what's taking up all the room. Then, you can go into the Music app and delete the music artist by artist. But in Catalina, you can still sync in the music app as you used to with iTunes. Select Sync check songs only.
Charles has upgraded to macOS Catalina 15.1, and now he's getting crashing due to an error with an iOS device. Leo suspects it may be a wifi sync issue between Charles' iPad and the Mac. So into the music settings and turn off sync library and see if that solves the issue. It sounds like a bug that Apple has to fix. Also, try opening the Activity Monitor. It'll show what processes are running and when you shut down, kill the sync process. That's not a great solution long term, but it could work until the fix comes in a future update. A complete clean install may also fix it.
Tracy's phone crashed on her and she lost her data. She now has Google Photos, but she's noticed it's not backing up every photo. Leo says to check the backup and sync settings in the app. If she has "only backup on Wi-Fi" enabled, it will only backup when it's connected to Wi-Fi. Also, she should make sure that she's backing up from all her possible device folders. If she has unlimited data, she can enable backup while on cellular. She may also be turning off cellular to save bandwidth on some apps like Google Photos.
Louis just got back from a cruise and he has a ton of videos. But when he backed up his images and videos to his computer, the videos didn't sync from his iPad. Leo says that the issue is that Windows PCs handle media over Wi-Fi differently.
Debbie has an old 2007 MacBook. She can't plug her iPhone to it and transfer her data. iPhoto keeps quitting on her. Leo says that she can turn on Wi-Fi syncing on the phone and use that option. It's slower, but it will work without crashing. iCloud Syncing is also a good option. Then she can sync it without even running iPhoto.
