The face on my iWatch came off

Apple Watch

Episode 1635

John from Gastonia, North Carolina

John is having an issue with his first-generation Apple Watch, where during a hot day during the summer, the whole face of the Apple Watch was becoming detached from the device. Leo says that's because of the lithium-ion battery within the watch, due to the heat. The battery can swell up due to age, defect, or heat, and eventually explode. Leo says that John might be able to take it into the Apple Store and get it replaced for free. But since it's a first-generation Apple Watch, Leo is not sure what Apple will do. But if John is friendly about it, Apple may replace it regardless.

Should I skip the iPhone 6 and get the Apple Watch?

Apple Watch

Episode 1160

Chris from Miami

The Apple Watch will work with the iPhone 5, iPhone 5S, and the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. He won't be able to use Apple Pay with the Apple Watch if he doesn't have an iPhone 6 or 6 Plus, however. So he may want to get the new iPhone 6 for that. We don't know yet if this will be such a great watch, though, anyone who's saying that is just guessing.

Google I/O to Preview Android Wear Devices

Episode 1094

Google I/O is coming this week and Leo says we'll likely see more about Google's new Android Wear initiative, which will include health monitoring watches powered by Android. It'll join a ton of other companies, including Samsung, that are going into fitness watches ahead of what everyone thinks will be an Apple iWatch. Leo says that Apple has already previewed where it's going with iOS 8, but they have yet to announce a device, leaving everyone to wonder when, or if, they even will. But Apple's recent hires hint at it, plus Kobe Bryant has been hanging out at the Apple Campus.
