Zach has some old computers that he wants to recycle but before he does, he'd like to make a virtual version of them to run on better hardware. Leo says that's an interesting idea, and the best option is VMWare vCenter Converter. This would allow him to run a client of a previous build image. Microsoft has one as well called Disk2vhd.
Chuck is a retired engineer and his computer won't run any programs he wrote in Basic or Visual Basic. Leo says that the DLLs aren't supported in Windows 7 or Windows 8. An XP machine would run these, but Microsoft won't be supporting it after March 2014. That means it won't continue to be safe to use online, but if it won't be on the internet, he should be fine running it. Leo suggests running Windows XP virtually on a Windows 7 machine, along with Visual Basic. It'll run just fine that way.
Leo says that Nick could do it by running the Network OS in VirtualBox or VMWare. VMWare has a good pre-packaged network and desktop OS he could run. Leo says that VMWare is an excellent choice. The chatroom says that he can run Windows Server with Virtual Box and it works great.
