Laurel recently switched to an iPhone 12 Pro Max but is having trouble moving her ringtones over to it. She got it into GarageBand, but that's as far as she can get. Leo says that there's a video on how to do it on Hands-On Mac here. She will need to export to AAC M4A, and then rename it to an M4R extension. She can then transfer it from her iPad to her iPhone via AirDrop.
Joanne is looking at getting a new MacBook Pro, but it's missing all the ports she needs. Leo says the trend is towards a Type-C connector that can be used for everything from power to monitor connections. So Macs can have fewer ports. She'll end up spending money on dongles to connect her older technology. That will be a brief inconvenience. Her card reader will work faster as well as any Thunderbolt connections.
Chris recently bought a 12" MacBook. Leo says it's his favorite Mac, even though it's a bit slower than the MacBook Air. It's also lighter. Should he get the Apple Type-C adapter? Leo says no. That type C adapter is $80 and that's ridiculous. He should go with a third party adapter, since the Type-C is universal.
