Fresh off the heals of Google canceling Google I/O due to the Corona Virus outbreak, the movie, music, and technology festival known as South by Southwest in Austin has been canceled. It's making Leo wonder if NAB is next.
With Ready Player One set to come out later this year, Leo says there are a ton of virtual reality exhibitions at the annual South by Southwest Interactive Festival this week in Austin. Leo also saw a mockup WestWorld outside of Austin. Tickets sold out in minutes.

President Obama at SXSW on Friday said that smartphones can't be allowed to be black boxes, inaccessible to government. He said you can't take an absolutist view on this. "So if your bargain is strong encryption, no matter what, that we can and should in fact create 'black boxes,' then that I think does not strike the kind of balance that we have lived with for 200, 300 years, and it's fetishizing our phones above every other value."
The problem with this is that the math is done -- cryptography exists. And there's nothing anyone can do to stop that.
South by Southwest is this weekend in Austin, TX. Since Twitter first became popular there in 2007, it's become so popular that apps can't really rise above the noise to gain real traction or interest there. While there's a fear of missing out, there really isn't much going on there this year except for Sergey Brin and a small group of people wearing the new Google Glasses that haven't launched yet.
