Andrew has an old Razor gaming smartphone and he's updated it to Android 8 Oreo. But he's almost run out of space on his SD card, and he doesn't have any photos or videos on it. He backs up everything to Google Photos. What is going on? Leo says to pop your SD card out and look at it. See if it has a ton of temp files on it. You can even format it. Then put it back in. It's also possible Andrew bought a counterfeit card that says it's a 256GB size. It happens a lot, even buying on Amazon. There's also an app called FILES by Google, which can clean out your SD card for you. 

How can I use less space on iCloud?

Tony has used up 4.9GB of his iCloud storage and he doesn't know how he's used all that. Leo says it's likely his phone backup. He can go to iCloud.com and login and see what's there. Chances are, if it isn't a phone backup, then it's likely all of his photos, which get automatically uploaded to the cloud. But he's wondering why it saves all his text messages and deleted email. Leo says he can probably change the mail settings to use less space. He should look in his email settings and choose things like "don't save attachments", etc.

The usable storage space after installing Windows is drastically smaller. User Data can be deleted to make more room. There's also a disk cleanup utility that he can use to make more room.

How can I update my phone if there's not enough room?

Kevin's mobile phone needs to be updated, but he can't because there's not enough room. Leo says that Kevin's phone probably has too little storage. He may need to wipe the phone and restore it to factory default settings, and then try updating it. Kevin should backup his data first and then give that a try. If that doesn't work, there's simply not enough room for the latest update and he's out of luck. The extra benefit of wiping and reinstalling is that it will clear out any bad popups or kruft left behind by old apps.

Jim's LG phone is constantly being filled up. Leo says that's because it's an 8GB phone and the OS itself takes up over half of it. That's why they can give these phones away for free. Nobody really should sell an 8GB phone.

Jim can clear out temp files and get rid of unused apps, then save all of his photos and videos to Google Photos. He can do the same thing for music with Google Play. Ultimately, Jim just needs a phone with a larger storage capacity.

Why do I have so little storage space in my Android phone?

How can I clear out space in my Google Drive?

Matt wants to know how to get rid of his photos on Google Drive. He uses Google Photos, but there are photos on his Google Drive that's causing it to go up against his limit. He doesn't know how to find them so he can delete them.

ScooterX in the chatroom says that using drive.google.com/drive/quota will give him a list of what each item in his Google Drive is counting against his quota. He can also click in the settings and it will allow him to compress his data and recover some storage space.

Is email taking up too much space on my iPhone?

JB has an iPhone and he wants to erase all the email from GMail. How can he do it all at once? Leo says that the mail is stored on the Gmail server, and not on his phone. So he doesn't have to worry about emails filling up his phone storage. It's just a window to the server and when he taps on it to read it, that's when the email gets downloaded. One thing JB can do is go into Settings > General > Storage and iCloud Usage > Manage Storage and then look at how much space each app is taking up.
