Chris has a Samsung Galaxy S10 and he can't get the Google Play store to open. It crashes. Verizon says he needs to do a "function reset." Leo says Chris has to be sure his phone is completely updated. that's important. Go into the settings and see if the latest Samsung software is there. But it's probably best to reset the phone is in order. Press and hold the on/off button and select restart. If that doesn't work, then he can reset the phone to factory default settings. But restarting the phone should work. From the Chatroom - Clear the cache and data from the Play Store app.
Samsung Galaxy S10
Debbie's Samsung Galaxy S4 won't work without being plugged in anymore. Leo says that the Galaxy S4 was one of the last ones that you could replace the battery too, and there are third party batteries from Anker and Aukey that you could buy for it. But Leo says it's pretty old now since the Galaxy S line is up to 10 now. So Leo says it's time Debbie got a new model. She could probably get the S9 for a really good deal. What about the Google Pixel? Leo says it has the best camera on the market, though the screen is better on the Samsung. But nobody does better than Google on the camera.
Richard recently came across his old Google G1, the first Android mobile device. Now he's at the Google Pixl2 XL and he wants a phone with an SD card for storage. Leo says that SD card slots are on a lot of phones, but they are notoriously difficult. The operating system doens't trust them to install apps. But Samsung seems to have gotten a handle on it. Leo recommends the Samsung Galaxy S10. But understand that Samsung does modify the Android OS a bit to make everything work the way they want. Some things are great, some aren't. Which is why Leo roots his and uses a custom launcher.
Millie wants to know what the best mobile phone is. Rich says that the four best are the iPhone, the Samsung Galaxy S10, the One Plus, and the Google Pixel 3. Google's Pixel 3 has the best camera for all situations, but that's about where it ends. The iPhone is the best all around, followed by the Samsung Galaxy S10. More likely it comes down to what she really wants to do with it, and Rich recommends asking her friends and family what they have. Get what they have and she can always ask for help or interact with them easily.
Paul is getting ready to cut the cable on his telephone service and he's moved his number to Google Voice. But how can he get his phones to work with Google voice? Leo says that phone numbers are portable, and as such, his home phone number can be ported to Google Voice. And then he can have his mobile phone ring when his number gets called. Up to 5 different phones can do that.
