Howard is having trouble with iMovie. He can't share video from it. It's constantly a compressor error. Leo says that iMovie has to render a video file using Apple Compressor. There may be a damaged file. There was an update this week, so check to see if that fixes it. If it doesn't, try uninstalling and reinstalling. Make sure to delete the compressor file and then reinstall it.
Doug has been taking a lot video classes with Adobe Premiere and After Effects, but his HP computer performance isn't all that great. Leo says that when you buy a computer at Costco you're not going to get a pro-grade device. If Doug is being slowed down by rendering, he'll not only want a lot of RAM, but he should also put in an SSD. A good NVidia or ATI Radeon video card will give him a fast GPU to handle the rendering instead of his PC's processor. That's what Premiere relies on -- the GPU.
Jack is starting a Kickstarter page where he's selling his drone footage. He's having trouble rendering 1080p HD videos at 60 fps. Leo says it's the 60 fps that's catching him up. But 60 fps is the future. Leo says that it comes down to the computer, and the software should be able to handle 60fps. Adobe Premiere Elements should be able to, as does Sony Vegas.
Tim uses Adobe Premiere CS6 for editing video and wants to decrease his rendering times. Leo says Tim needs to figure out what the weak link is in the chain that's causing the bottle neck, and it could either be the processor, the graphics processor, the RAM, or the hard drive. Boosting his video card will help. Since he's boosted his RAM and installed an SSD, Leo has a hunch it's the graphics processor. If it's slowing down while encoding, that could point to the CPU.
