Kevin wants to know if RemotePC (a sponsor of The Tech Guy radio show) works with maintaining his mother's mobile device? It's a Samsung Galaxy 5. Leo says that RemotePC wouldn't work from PC to Android. Samsung has Kies, which could possibly work, but going Android to Android is a difficult proposition.

However, the chatroom says that RemotePC can work, as would Team Viewer, and possibly AirDroid.

Adam from Ontario, Canada, also says that Team Viewer will let you remotely access another person's phone to fix it. He's done that with his mom's phone.

Is Windows Remote Desktop safe to use?

Sundeep wants to know if GoToMyPC is better than Microsoft's own native remote desktop. Leo says that if you have Windows Pro, remote desktop is free. But Windows remote desktop has a number of significant flaws that represent a serious security issue for users. One magazine even said that "it's time to disconnect Remote Desktop from the internet. You also don't want to use it "bare" on the internet. You need to use a VPN or proxy server. So Leo advises not using Remote Desktop. Use a third-party service like GoToMyPC.

Alice wants to know which remote software to use. RemotePC or GotoMyPC? Leo says that they're very similar and both do the same thing. RemotePC is an advertiser but is half the price of GotoMyPC. And they have a free trial before you buy.

If you have Windows 10 Professional edition, it comes with its own remote access options, but there is a known security flaw in it, and Leo recommends waiting until Microsoft fixes it. 

Do ISPs Know When You're Using a VPN to Stream?

Leo says that it sounds like the internet companies are getting wise to that. Sometimes users can switch VPNs and get back up and running. Another option is to set up a VPN server at his server in the US, then surf to that with Remote PC. 

Can I control a phone from my computer?

Adam wants to know if he can control a mobile device from his computer. Leo says that Remote PC does not work in the opposite direction, unless the phone is physically connected. You could control another laptop from a laptop, or Desktop. But not a phone. So in the case of your phone being stolen, you have to get your carrier or phone manufacturer involved to brick it or wipe is remotely.
