Rick is calling about his Epson Workforce EW750. After 3 months, it stopped being available in Windows. Listed as "offline." He updated the drivers and re-added it, but it won't stop reading as offline. Leo says that's a call to Epson. Leo says that Epson printers will "expire." They just stop working: preprogrammed obsolescence. And since Rick bought two of them five years ago and kept one in reserve, it's unfortunate. Call Epson and see what they can do to get it back online.
Elizabeth has an HP OfficeJet Pro 8715 printer. But her menus say 8710 on the screen. Leo says the printer probably uses the same drivers because it's part fo the 8710 line. She is also being told she needs new ink cartridges and she replaced them, but now it won't print anything. Leo says to look in the setup menu to see what the error message is. It may also be security software from a third party or counterfeit cartridges. HP won't allow them. That could be the issue.
She may also need to update the drivers.
Evelyn's HP laser printer only prints the top half of the page and gives up. Leo suspects it may be software, but a laser printer works like a Xerox Machine and as such, may need maintenance. The printer drivers may need to be reinstalled. Go to HP.com and download the latest software for it. But laser printers are so cheap now, it may just be time to get a new one.
Nam bought a new router, but now he can't print. Leo says it's a good idea to delete the connection in his printer, then go into the printer settings of his computer and delete the connection there. Then reinstall. It could be it just needs to be reacquired by the OS.
Ann tries to print something and it seems to be dead. It won't send the file to the printer. She gets an error message that Leo says is a trackpad error. But there's another error that says printer off line. Leo says that means it still thinks it's jammed. And windows has stopped the device because of continual problems. Leo says that could point to the trackpad failure. It's definitely a hardware issue. But Leo advises uninstalling the printer and then reboot the computer. Then try reinstalling it. See if that frees it up to print.
