Chris Marquardt on Photography

Chris Marquardt

Episode 1264

Chris is back with part two of his series on shooting portraits and today he's got some tips for lighting the portrait. It's not enough to point a light at someone. Often that does even worse because it washes out the subject. Direction is important and you can play with it. Take a desk lamp and walk around your subject and see how the light changes. Place it above and below, but never straight at the subject. The best light source is also free -- windows. Natural daylight is one of the best light sources for a portrait.
