Rod is back with Leo with some Space News! This week is news that a frame from the original alien autopsy has been up for auction. According to Rod, a UK TV producer bought the original film and created the iconic Alien Autopsy TV special on Discovery. Now the original film is up for sale again. But it's one frame, plus NFT or Non-fungible token. Rod says though, an original of a hoax is still a hoax.
NFTs, or Non-Fungable Tokens, are all the rage in the digital world these days. One example is a digital artist named Beeple, who has sold digital artwork and made a pretty sizable sum: $69.3 million; the third-highest auction price achieved by a living artist. It's not the work of art itself, since that was a digital JPG, but the ownership of the art itself. It was the first digital item sold by Christie's, and they accepted payment in digital currency: Etherium.
NFTs, or non-fungible tokens, enable users to buy things online like digital video assets in games, video clips, and other virtual products. Sales using NFTs have been in the billions for video games alone. It's like digital currency akin to bitcoin, and Leo thinks it could be the new investment frontier.
