Carl has a Motorola Moto 360 watch. Leo says it's the best smartwatch out there to date. But Carl says it won't automatically turn on when he puts his watch up to read it. Leo says to turn on "ambient display" in the settings. The Moto 360 will still have enough battery life to last throughout the day.
Mike got a Droid Turbo, but he can't work Internet and be on a call at the same time. Leo says that's one of the issues with the Turbo since it has only one antenna. You can't. But Verizon may be changing that in the coming months as Verizon moves to VoiceOver LTE (VOLTE). When it does, an upgrade will fix the problem. But only if VOLTE is supported in your market.
Carlos wants to know if his iPhone can pair to multiple bluetooth devices. Leo says yes! It's been a standard capability for awhile in smartphones now. Leo also recommends over the ear bluetooth headphones.
Motorola makes great wireless headphones, as does LG. The Motorola S10HD are about $40, and they go around the neck and house the batteries for longer battery life. He'll also want headphones that support the high quality stereo profile called 'A2DP.'
We're expecting an announcement of the new Moto X Android phone and Android Wear watch from Motorola on September 4. The new Motorola X will probably have a bigger screen, at 5 inches, and should have a better camera and higher resolution display. Like the first Moto X, it will likely run mostly stock Android with a few useful additions, like the ability to just talk to the phone to wake it up at any time. It knows when you're awake, sleeping, in a meeting, or driving automatically and will adjust its settings accordingly.
Tom hasn't had a cellphone in a few years and he's looking at getting the Samsung Galaxy S5. He also sees that it's waterproof. Is that true? Leo says no, it's not water "proof". It's water resistant.
Only a year after buying it, Google has sold Motorola to Lenovo. While Google is keeping all the patents, it is believed they are losing quite a bit by selling it. This move indicates that Google believes it can make more money from Android alone, rather than making phones themselves. This also means they may have made a deal with handset makers like Samsung to provide a pure Google experience for their phones.
Leo got a deal of $100 off on an unlocked Moto X. The cool part about it is that it came with a Walnut wooden back. Two days after Leo bought this phone, Google sold Motorola to Lenovo. Google kept most of Motorola's patents, though, which was vital to protect against patent wars.
Google also has convinced Samsung to either stop putting junk on its phones, or make them removable by the user. The agreement included a deal for Google to not sue Samsung for a decade.
Dan is looking for a cheap smartphone for his mom and wants to know what Leo thinks of the Motorola Moto G. Leo says at $180 without contract, it's a great, inexpensive phone. It's largely the same as the Moto X, except for the screen.
Bob is looking to get a new cellphone to replace his old Motorola Razr flip phone. He's wondering about the Moto X. Leo loves the Moto-X! It's especially cool because it's made in the USA, and can customize the colors. Leo says Google Now works great also.
