Joseph wants to an SD card into his phone and make it part of "adoptable storage," making the phone think that the phone is larger than it is. Rich says that Samsung doesn't allow that on their phones anymore because it's difficult to do, and if the card gets corrupted or loosened, it could prevent your phone from working properly. So Rich says that even though Android supports it, Samsung may have locked that feature out. Is there a workaround? Rich says you may be able to do it by rooting the phone, but it's not all that easy.

Chris says that there's a consumer alert for a 512 GB microSD card for $6 incl. shipping. But as you can guess, that's a total ripoff because a name brand is over $100. Chris ordered one and it, indeed, was a fraudulent memory card. Complete counterfeits. Chris says that often, those cards are defects that have been "declared" as smaller cards, and sell them for cheap. The fraudsters get access to the broken cards and then reflashes them again to make them look larger than they are.

Generally, the app has to support storing the data to your SD card. Some apps are smart enough, some aren't. Downloaded apps are the same way. If the app doesn't know to check, you're stuck where it puts it. You can move media into the SD card through the storage settings in your phone though.

But it's on a microsd card. Odds are that no one will find it and if they do, they might see the images. But he's obviously lost them all.

How does he move stuff from the internal memory to it? Leo says that he can move pictures, movies, and other media to the SD and he can set his camera to save to it. Apps are more complicated and many apps simply can't use the SD storage.

Leo says that this is a common problem with Android and it largely depends on what flavor of Android he's using. For William, it's Lollipop. But even then, ideally, it gets confusing with the app and the phone. It could be different from app to app. So he'll need to go into the app settings and see if it supports it. There should be an option to move the app to the SD card.

Leo says that he's often torn between the convenience of one large card and the security of several smaller ones. But Leo says having enough cards so she doesn't have to erase them is a good idea. If her camera can upload images to her phone for a backup, so much the better. The key, though, is to swap out cards often and offload them to a computer or the cloud. Leo doesn't delete the images off his card either.

He's wondering if he can combine the internal storage and the SD card so that they appear as one single drive. Leo says he could, but it raises the failure rate because if one fails, it all fails. It's called "Scary RAID." Even if he adds more space with a MicroSD card, he may or may not be able to add apps to it. Tablets really aren't upgradable.
