Gail is anxious for iPhone 6 to come out because she's still on an iPhone 4. She wants to know when she'll be able to pre-order the new phone. Leo says it could be September 9th, the day they announce it, but it could be ten days later. Or it might be on the 12th. There's also news that Apple is having manufacturing issues and there may be short supplies, so she'll have to be quick to pre-order. When she does pre-order, she should do it at the Apple Store website. She can specify her carrier there, and then it will be FedExed to her.
FoxConn has apparently confirmed the specs for both a 4.7" and 5.5" iPhone. Leo says that's the most credible intel yet. If this is true, the iPhone will be as big as a Galaxy Note. You can bet Leo will buy one if that's the case. There's also talk that Apple is having trouble making them because they want the phone so thin, that they've had to change the manufacturing process yet again.
Judy is looking to get her very first smartphone. She currently uses T-Mobile, but she's worried about coverage for a road trip she's going on. Leo says that coverage wise, Verizon is best, while AT&T has the best data speeds. Leo really likes T-Mobile, though.
Terry has an iPhone and wants to back it up to his new Mac. He's connected it to Windows and he's worried iTunes will want it erase it. Leo says to back it up to iCloud first. That's going to be his best option. But it should connect and back up to iTunes with no trouble. If it wants to erase it, then he shouldn't continue. Leo says current versions allow him to use up to five devices, so it shouldn't erase it.
Using an Android clone that looks like an iPhone, TMZ tried to put forth a series of silly rumors of what iPhone 6 will have, including wireless charging. Leo says that they got fooled by a Chinese clone that uses a heavily modifed version of Android to look like iOS.
With the US regulatory commission having approved the acquisition, Apple has officially absorbed Beats into it's corporate family. Meanwhile, rumor is that September 16th will be the official announcement date for the iPhone 6 and maybe some other cool stuff. Will we see the iWatch in time for Christmas?
Mark Gurman of 9to5Mac writes that we'll see the iPhone 6 in the second or third week of September. That doesn't mean it will become available then, however. Usually Apple announces the phone, and then it goes on sale a week later.
Apple ‘tentatively’ plans mid-September iPhone event as iOS 8 nears completion (9to5Mac)…
A cover, supposedly for the next Apple iPhone, has been leaked. This could be made of sapphire crystal, and is very tough. It was showed off earlier this week in a YouTube video from Hong Kong by Marques Brownlee. The video shows the glass bending, and Brownlee was even stabbing it with a knife to show that it could not be scratched. The front part measures 4.7", which is consistent with the predictions we've been hearing from other sources as one of the sizes of the next iPhone.
Diego wants to know if he should wait to buy iPhone 6 when it comes out or make the move to the Samsung Galaxy S5. Leo says that we don't know what's going to be in iPhone 6 and the earliest we'll know is the Fall. We have a hint at what it will be able to do with the preview of iOS 8, though.
YouTuber Marquis Brownlee got his hands on a sample iPhone 6 Sapphire screen and Leo says it's looks quite legit. The screen is extremely wear resistant and you can't scratch it at all. It's also a 4.7" screen which is the largest iPhone screen Apple has produced, if legit. You can watch Marquis' video here.
