He tried a third party reload option. Didn't work. Leo said that many printer makers have put chips in a cartridge as an "anti-piracy measure," which prevents you from using a third-party ink cartridge option. It's terrible and anti-competitive.

Leo says that inkjet printers clog if you don't use them regularly. Leo says that if you're using official Epson ink, you shouldn't have a clog. But if you're buying your ink from Amazon, it's possible that you purchased counterfeit ink. So be sure you're buying your ink from an authorized Epson retailer. But it could also be a defect, so Leo advises contacting Epson directly.

Felicia had her HP printer ink cartridges refilled, and now her printer won't accept the cartridge. It just says it's incompatible or counterfeit. What can she do? Rich says that printers are cheap because they can make up the cost on ink. Rich also thinks, however, that the contacts on the cartridges may just be dirty. So she should clean them with some distilled water and a coffee filter. Nothing that has threads to it. She should give it a good wiping down and try again. It should be able to see it then.

First, they may replace the head when they replace the ink cartridge. But if it's a multi cartridge printer, then they probably won't.

Gordon is wondering if it would be worth it to buy inkjet refills. Leo has traditionally avoided refills because the ink usually isn't as good. It also may violate his printer's terms of service, which would void the warranty. Also, some printer cartridges also contain the printer head. Refilling the cartridge won't clean the head and he could end up with more clogs. That's why Leo recommends Laser printers.

Can I refill ink cartridges in new printers?

Ken wants to refill his ink cartridges, but has heard that there are now chips in printers that prevent you from using it after refilling it with ink. Leo says that it is true. In many printers, you can't use third party cartridges. It's anti competitive, but the printers are so cheap, they make their living on selling the ink. So as long as Ken is refilling the same cartridges and can reset the cartridge chip, it should work. The printer also reads the chip in the cartridge and knows when it's out of ink. So it could be a problem on that end as well.
