Leo has an Acer Iconia that he wants to donate. But he wants to wipe it clean first. He erased it and reset it. But is that really secure? Leo says it is. With an Android device, it will erase everything and even if they could get it back, it's encrypted and he won't be able to see anything.
Burt plugged in his iPad to update it and it has been verifying the update for hours and can't be opened. Leo says the update probably failed and he can do a hard reset. Burt should press the on/off switch and the home button together and hold it down. Then it will boot up and load the current OS. Then he can try again.
Sy has a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 that restarts a lot. Sometimes it even locks him out. Leo says that it's worth doing a factory reset to get rid of any corruption in the software. But more likely, it's hardware which is due to age.
Sy could also root it. He should check out XDA-Developers.com. He needs to search for the exact model phone as his, and he can learn how to root the phone. This will allow him to create a better recovery or ROM like Cyanogen Mod, which can give it new life.
Paul's UVerse router is starting to get finicky, so he got a new one and wants to use the old one in bridge mode, but it won't work. It keeps asking for a password. Leo says it's unusual for a factory to set a router with a password from default. The password should be in the manual. Paul should try doing a factory reset.
Paul bought an iPad Air 2 and it reboots itself, so he returned it and got a new one, and it's rebooting again. Sometimes the iPad can crash in the SpringBoard, which is called a ReSpring.
