Scott joins Leo to talk about this year's Black Friday deals. There was a ton of great Black Friday deals, but Scott says a lot of them were very low-end models. Most were edge-lit LCD TVs. Not a great way to watch TV, but they are cheap. Scott recommends looking at Series 5 TCL LCDs, though. Still affordable and a model up. Vizio's M Series is comparable, as is the Hi-Sense H8 series. If you can find them on black Friday sales, and this year the sales are going for far longer than just one day, then go for it.
Black Friday deals
Scott joins Leo after a brief bout with Larengitus, to talk with Leo about this year's Black Friday deals. Scott says that while rumors are that Black Friday deals are for products just made for Black Friday, he says that isn't true at all. They are mostly for overstock, last year's models, and even this year's models. Abe's of Maine has killer deals on OLED TVs, including the LG C9, for 52% off. 65" C9 $1750.
In the speaker category, the Sony Core SSCS3 and the CS5 Bookshelf are 50% off at Best Buy. You can even buy a Sony Atmos system for half off. Klipsh is also 50% off.
Scott says that the latest TV shootout, now sponsored by CE Week, was decided on a vote by professional colorists, but the difference is the same — LG won. Sony and Samsung were a close second and third, though. What's the difference between the Sony and Samsung OLED? Scott says that the processing is better, but likely not worth paying $1,000 more for. While he bought the Sony himself, he would have no problem buying an LG and they are offering some pretty killer Black Friday deals. A 55" LG B7 is selling for $1499 during Black Friday. That's a fantastic deal. The 65" B7 is $2,299.
