What's a Good Laptop for Photo Editing?

Ted is a photographer and he's looking for a good laptop to do his photo editing on. He's looking at the Asus Pro Duo, but it's pretty heavy at 5 lbs. Leo says that Asus makes a good laptop, but it may be better to use a better workflow and go with Adobe Creative Cloud and a lighter laptop. But the Asus Pro Duo is a good model. And it's heavier because it has a desktop-class video card. Leo also likes the Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon, it has a gorgeous OLED screen, which is great for accurate color reproduction. Go for it. Max out the RAM though.

Leo says that you can get Chromebooks in just about any price and performance level. It just depends on how much John wants to spend and what he needs. John's budget is $500. Leo says that the ASUS Chromebox 3 is a good option starting at $300. It's an i3 processor and 4K graphics. But you can upgrade to an i7. But that's almost $1000. If you want a Chromebox, that's the brand Leo would go with. What about Linux? Can he buy a Linux machine?

Leo says that the battery life may be short, read the reviews. Leo recommends keeping all your data on the 2TB drive, and the programs on the 256GB drive. You can specify that in WIndows settings.

Bob is buying the new Apple MacPro. He was thinking of getting the XTR monitor, but he's not high on paying $1,000 for a stand. Leo says that the monitor is really a color reference monitor for professional colorists. It's a beautiful work of art, but it's also $6,000. So for 99.9% of us, it's not necessary. But if you're doing video, you're going to want a very color-accurate monitor. Apple will likely continue to sell the LG UltraFine 5K monitor as well. It's expensive as well, but not nearly as much as the Apple monitor.

And they are small enough that they can be mounted on the back of the monitor, so it's almost like an iMac.
