James has a large family that records many videos, and he's run out of storage in the cloud. He can't buy anymore iCloud to store everyone's movies and music. Leo says that James has transitioned to the enterprise-grade needs. Especially for backups. Leo says maybe just creating a duplicate Synology NAS off site and have it Sync. That way he can have as much storage he needs, rather than paying for it in the Cloud. It's also far more practical, since it won't take up bandwidth. Carbonite will even send a hard drive to back up and ship to them for storage. But that isn't readily available.
Judy faithfully backs up her data and she has all her data in a master backup folder. She's having issues backing up program install files, though. Leo says that Carbonite should back up everything, but it may not be the default setting to backup install files. If Carbonite says that EXEs won't be backed up regardless, then one option is to ZIP up the file, and Carbonite will back up that file. It would be a good idea to backup her data to two external drives and then take one off site. Then she can swap them every time she does a backup.
Bob needs a cloud based storage solution for being a digital pack rat. Leo says he should think about what he wants to store in the cloud and what he wants to store locally. If security is an issue, or if his data consists of large files like movies, then he should keep that locally.
The cheapest solution is Amazon's Glacier. This would be for things he doesn't need all the time. At $0.007 per gigabyte, it's ideal as a "just in case" scenario.
