Scott joins Leo to talk about the new microLED technology which can use Local dimming to increase contrast with greater precision. The smaller LEDs are, the smaller the zones that brighten independently. That translates into a greater dynamic range.
In other news ... CES is determined to hold the conference in January. Scott says he won't go because he doesn't want to be exposed to the CoVid19 virus.
Scott also got an email about a viewer who's Lexicon processor died. What should he get? Scott says a Marantz AV8805 is a good replacement. But the problem is, we are now in the transition from HDMI 2.0 - HDMI 2.1, which will triple the bandwidth. So Scott advises waiting, or you won't be able to future proof your system. So why spend $5,000 on something you'll want to replace in a year or two? So spend a lot less for a stop-gap measure. The Outlaw Audio 976 is $1,000.
