The Giz Wiz and the Luma Charge

Episode 1640 (1:58:11)

The Lumicharge Smart LED desk lamp 2.0 is loaded with useful features. First, it's a convenient place to charge your phone and other small electronic devices. The new 2.0 version adds a universal charging dock with a10W wireless charger for phones designed for charged wirelessly. The LED has three lighting modes: bright white, soft white and soft yellow. Within those modes, you have 10 degrees of brightness adjusted via up/down arrows. A built-in motion sensor turns a built-in night light ON when you enter a dark room and that feature has it's own on/off switch. The LED display shows time, date, day of the week, and temperature. It also auto-adjusts for daylight savings time. There's also a built-in alarm w/snooze and a timer. On the front of the lamp, there's a dial that lets you charge another device by turning it to the micro USB, USB-C, or lightning connector. For some strange reason, the door doesn't close completely when not in use. There's a USB port on the back as another charging option. The lamp can rotate 180 degrees and be adjusted forward and backward. MSRP is $149.99, but as of 11/1/19, there was a 10% off coupon on Amazon. There's also a version which looks like it has the identical features minus the wireless charger. That has an MSRP of $119.99. (There was a discount option on that on Amazon as of 10/31/19, but it disappeared on 11/1/19.) The 2.0 version is available in white, black and silver. The original one seems to be in black only. Although not an inexpensive purchase, reviews on Amazon are quite good. 4.5 stars out of 5 stars from 36 people as of 11/2/19. The product sample was sent to me by Lumicharge which has no idea if I'll write about it, or what I might say about it.
