Scott is back from CES, and he actually walked over 24 miles looking at the latest gadgets and HDTVs. He saw a lot of 4K, and TVs with curved screens. Leo says there's no real benefit from a curved screen, and Scott says that's especially true at the smaller 50" sizes. But for a bigger 105" TV, it may help.
Scott says the most impressive thing at CES came from Vizio. Their UHD TVs have Dolby Vision, which expands the contrast and color gamuts by a factor of 2 or 3. Most importantly, they were showing it with content from Universal and Paramount that have been mastered for Dolby Vision. They compared it to Samsung's UHD and there was a remarkable difference. Also, more manufacturers are bringing back backlit LEDs.
Scott also saw glasses free 3D technology from Dolby and ScreenTV Networks. And ScreenTV Networks was the best.
