Scott stayed at Leo's house for a few days while he was gone and calibrated the new OLED HDTV. Scott says it looks really great in Movie mode, set for "warm 2."
Scott has also been testing Samsung's new OLED HDTV with a curved screen. He likes the TV, but he doesn't like the curved screen. All of the support is behind the screen, causing it to tilt backwards slightly. The problem is, when you're off axis from the center of the screen, the picture looks weird geometrically even though the curve is very gentle. The blacks are so deep, you have an infinite contrast ratio though. It's stunning.
Leo also says that Panasonic's Viera is close to it. The sad part is that Panasonic is getting out the plasma category. Could it be that OLED will replace it?
