Why does my Bluetooth drop out when listening to music?

Artie has a Samsung Note 8 and a Plantronics Bluetooth headset, but sometimes the Bluetooth drops out when he listens to music. Leo says "welcome to Bluetooth!" Leo says he prefers to listen wired to music, which is one of the reasons he keeps buying Samsung. John in the chatroom has the same issue with his device and the Plantronics. For using calls, Bluetooth is fine. For listening to music, it's really not ready for prime time. The chatroom says that Plantronics has an app for Android, which may help.

Alan has a problem where Windows 10 doesn't see his Plantronics usb headset. Saying the driver is corrupted. Leo says that there probably isn't a dedicated Plantronics driver for it, instead relying on the standard Windows USB audio driver. But it seems unlikely that the USB audio driver is corrupted. But it is Microsoft, so it may just be a matter of reinstalling the drivers. Leo also says that booting into Linux and testing it was a brilliant troubleshooting idea. The other idea is that it could just be a Windows 10 incompatibility.

Most microphones on headsets are omnidirectional, meaning they pick up sound equally in all directions. He'll want something that's highly directional, though. Leo doesn't know of any inexpensive headsets that are directional. The one Leo uses and recommends is the Plantronics Dot Audio 995. It has a noise canceling microphone which might help reduce other sounds.
