Leo has been playing with Facebook. About a month ago, they created an API for applications to be developed for your Facebook profile. Mark Zuckerburg, owner of Facebook, actually turned down a billion dollars from Yahoo.

Ning will allow you to create your own social network.

Google has launched a “Street View” service that are fairly recent. Leo’s buddy Patrick Norton was actually caught on it crossing the street. Check out the top 15 sightings on Google Street View.

Apple unveiled several new features in the upcoming Mac OSX Leopard. They also showed off their Safari browser for Windows. Lastly, the iPhone will support Web 2.0 applications.

• Netscape created SSL (secure socket layer)
  • Creates private connection between your machine and remote site
  • SSL connection gets established
• HTTP goes before the web address (ie. http://amazon.com)
  • Can use HTTPS for secure connection (ie. https://amazon.com)
    • Uses SSL
• Problem is trusting entity on the other end
• Most web browsers have a simple padlock icon that guarantees SSL connection

• Some manufacturers actually have a dash button on the remote
• Will need to manually add each channel from the secondary market
• Can get a video splitter/combiner
  • Will take 2 signals and combine them
    • Then would do simple scan and all channels would be added

• Balanced with red/green/blue
  • Based on what colors you want
• Try using a white/gray sheet of paper to set default balance on camera
• White balance can affect mood of picture
• Keeping balance neutral all the time can lose the mood of picture

Q Rosemary from North Ridge - Having trouble installing Service Pack 2

• Problems are usually because system has been modified too much
• Service Pack 2 will install fine on fresh installation of Windows
• May have some malware installed
• Anti virus may even be preventing it
• Reinstall Windows from recovery discs and install Service Pack 2
  • Then keep running Windows Update till all updates are installed

• Adding tags to pictures is the way to go
• iPhoto allows you to tag them
• Flickr can allow you to tag photos as well
• There is an IPTC header in JPEG images for tagging
  • Look at iTag

• Satellite service is expensive and there’s some latency
  • Uploading would be a little slow
  • Things like Skype and online games would be slow
• DSL requires you to be within 2 kilometers of a service center
• Speedtest.net has records of various speed tests

• Ads are the easiest way to make money
• Google Adsense is a way to start
• John Chow is a great example of how to implement advertising
• Google Analytics will help you know your audience

  • Put it into your phone and it will work
