If Netgear did a crappy job, you’ll need some better software. Both Microsoft and Apple have solved the user interface problem. Leo would say that you’ll see dozens of new solutions at CES. You can also use MythTV which apparently has a web-based remote control now.

Leo, you have disappointed me and probably lost a listener, all because that Zune rant, and not only for that reason but some other MS bashing before this. So what, i maybe a MS fan but who cares. You are an apple fan so that is why you dislike zune and okay. In that rant you complain about features that the ipod does not hold, well at least not yet. Also, probably when it does its size will increase so there will be no point to bash on the zune’s size, which by the way is not horribly Bigger. And then you also make a big deal when another company get plugged some how but you plug apple all the time on your show. One last thing apple also holds DRM and i am pretty sure that they will have restrictions with their “squirting” as Steve calls it, if it is ever to happen. Good Days Leo. VIVA MICROSOFT!

Magellanic Penguin
The Magellanic penguin (Spheniscus magellanicus) is a South American penguin, breeding in coastal Argentina, Chile and the Falkland Islands, with some migrating to Brazil. It is the most numerous of the Spheniscus penguins. Its nearest relatives are the African Penguin, the Humboldt Penguin and the Galapagos Penguin. The main threat to this species is oil pollution which kills more than 20,000 adults and 22,000 juveniles every year off the coast of Argentina.

Q Karen - Buying an iMac
http://ec2.images-amazon.com/images/P/B000EPNEY0.01._AA280_SCLZZZZZZZ_V59589744_.jpg%%
She was going to buy an iMac, but heard about Macworld. Leo would say to wait till Tuesday. It doesn’t seem that OSX Leopard will be ready for Macworld. If it doesn’t come out at Macworld, go ahead and buy it unless Apple says that Leopard will be out within the month. Otherwise, go ahead and buy it after Macworld; the upgrade to Leopard will cost about $129. Leo generally doesn’t get extended warranties. The reason you may do it on a laptop is to get screen replacements. If the warranty doesn’t cover accidental damage, it is not worth it. Leo never buys Applecare because he is not going to call customer support. If it’s a desktop, you’re not going to drop it. In terms of hardware, if it’s not going to fail within 6 months, it probably won’t fail. The short answer is no.
Q Functionality losses from iTunes 6 to 7
There are no more functionality losses anymore. One thing we know is that Apple will launch iWork and iLife 07. Leo suspects that there will be a big update on Tuesday. iTunes has a much better iPod preference pane. What you’ll do is dock your iPod and set the preferences. You can create a smart playlist and make it so the iPod will only sync a the playlist. It is also possible to manually manage the iPod.

The only way to avoid detection on the network, you will need a program that they would recognize as authorized, and add a network card to connect the other computer. Then use the authorized computer as a proxy for any other computers you connect. The IT people may detect the proxy running on the authorized machine. However, if additional computers are added to the network, they wouldn’t be able to detect them directly. They could see the traffic had been through a proxy by the port number on the return address. If the authorized machine used TOR that may help. I have a TOR machine and all the computers on my network can use it. Once again it comes down to port allowed out their proxy and firewall.

Robin should download DVDInfoPro and check his discs, if they look OK then he should go to videohelp.com and check the capability of his players. But, your presentation is off putting.
Also it is very easy, to make accusations. Where is yor proof, that Leo is being paid by Apple or anyone else for his opinions? Do you have any check stubbs or wire transactions. I believe that Leo is an honest person. His opinion is that Apple products are better. That does not mean he is pimping for them. He is paid to give his opinion.
Why don’t you put out a blog or netcast? You are obviously very knowledgeable about technology. I would love to read your blog or listen to your netcast. He’s burned a DVD with some home video content, but on 3 different DVD players, there are 3 different problems. Your program isn’t doing what it’s supposed to do. Take a look at DVDDemystified.com
Q Ellie from Irvine - Printer duplexing
The word duplex can mean a lot of different things. You’ll have to look into the manual. Generally when you’re talking about duplexing on an all-in-one, that means it will scan both sides and print on both side.
Q Bob from Los Angeles - Gracenote will not recognize commercial CDs
His problem is in iTunes. Gracenote will not read the disc if it is a defunct CD. In the import menu, select “use error correction”. Here’s the issue, the CD is scratched or has fingerprints on it. The way Gracenote works is by seeing how many tracks are on the CD and how long each track is.

You have provided some great information, but why must you be so negative? Why not present your opinions in a more positive, and polite manner. I think you have some good things to say.
Instead of spending your time, putting down Leo, you could produce your own content. You can give your opinions too. That would be a more positive way to get out your points of view.

Q Denise from Valencia - Website links getting broken
Links are getting broken when she moves the site from one computer to another. The problem is that links are relative to a page. The good news is that when you upload it, the links should get fixed.

New iPods Coming….
I was watching a financial news show yesterday, and the stock market analyst predicted that Apple will release three new iPods in calendar year 2007.
Also, he predicted a new laptop is coming. It will have a smaller screen than the MacBook, and the LCD display will be backlit by LEDs to save battery power. That computer should arrive in May, give or take a month or two.
But for now, or at least until Tuesday, we will have to classify this info as a rumor.

Q Tyler - iTunes library seems to have disappeared
It seems that the index file has gotten deleted. All you have to do is select the top level music folder and click “add to library”. Try moving the music somewhere else on the hard drive.

If LEO knew ANYTHING about what he blabs about he’d know that the reason the Toshiba and Canon SED TV is NOT being released is because co-developers Toshiba and Canon are being SUED by the patent holder!
“Reports: Lawsuit may delay SED TV plans
IDG News Service 1/2/07″ http://www.itworld.com/Tech/5051/070102seddelay/
Also, apparently script from Apple PR given to Leo for pimping the “iTV” doesn’t BOTHER TO MENTION that D-Link, Linksys and Belkin have had this EXACT DEVICE out for OVER TWO YEARS!! I have had the D-Link 802.11g HD MediaLounge since July 2005! See for yourself! - http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=318
Beware of the purely Apple Propoganda Leo spouts! It’s bought and paid for.

Leo, your youtube rant on the Zune was a riot (and so true).. it showed a wilder, more aggresive side of you! I hope all the M$ fanboys get their underwear in a twist over it.. it’s so much fun to listen to them whine and complain about your Microsoft bashing! Keep on telling it like it is!

Q Tiffany - Random icons showing up in Microsoft Word
There should be a paragraph icon in your toolbar. If you click it, the icons should go away. You’re looking for a command called show/hide invisibles. You can turn on the standard toolbar in the view menu. The command is also in the preferences under the view tab.
Q DJ from Ventura - Importing MP3s on the PS3
The problem is that the data disc is already encoded. What you want to find is a file manager for the PS3 that will allow you to copy those over. In fact, the PS3 will automatically find ID3 tag information if you put a normal audio CD in. You can burn your music as a normal audio disc and throw it into the machine. In the settings menu, you can specify what format you would like to import the music as.

Next week is going to be littered with announcements from both the gigantic CES and MacWorld.
At CES, LG will announce a dual-format (HD-DVD and Blu-Ray) player. Leo believes this news enough to cancel his HD-DVD player order!
Warner Bros. is making a dual-format disc. Either this or LG’s player may sway the DVD wars.

Most people are expecting Apple to announce a cell phone. It’s a fact that they have ordered 12 million. Victor from last week’s show told Leo that it may not be released because of difficulties with carrier agreements. The iTV is also planned to be released. Moreover, Apple is overdue for a new iPod. No matter what happens, look for Apple to be a distributer for movies and TV shows over iTunes.
