Adobe has released a public beta of their Photoshop CS3 software. It is now a universal binary; this means that it runs much faster on Intel based Macs.
Gizmodo author Brian Lam has guaranteed that the iPhone will be announced on Monday.
An analyst from Forrester Research says that iTunes sales are collapsing.
Leo has begun to use Google in AJAX style on a site known as SearchMash.
Q Kevin from Crestline - Trying to connect a TV tuner card
He is using an analog tuner, but the source is digital. That is why the TV tuner is not working correctly. The HDTV tuner you are using is an “over the air” tuner. Your high definition signal is coming in a QUAM format. The chipset in the card can do that, but the movie companies do not want you to be able to record perfect digital high definition copies. Get an ATI All-in-Wonder card and get the analog cable into that.
Q Jeff from San Francisco - Running Windows on an Intel Mac
I like Parallels just for the convenience. However, the new beta will allow you to run Windows from a Boot Camp partition. Unfortunately, you will not be able to run the Windows Vista Glass effects. For the Windows partition, you can choose a static drive or an expanding drive. The expanding drive is a little slower, but will grow as you fill the partition.
Q Jackie from Malibu - Can’t make recovery discs
On her Sony Vaio computer, she cannot make recovery discs because she is getting an error stating that the recovery partition is missing. It cannot make the recovery disc unless the data is located in that partition. Maybe Sony knows about something; try doing what they told you to do.
Q Pat from Laguna Hills - Not able to install Norton 2007
Leo doesn’t like McAfee OR Norton mainly because they are so bloated. The corporate versions of both are fine. Email is the largest catalyst for viruses. Most viruses are spread via attachments. Leo recommends going to windowsonecare.com. This is Microsoft’s antivirus. My favorite antivirus is NOD32. However, it sometimes intimidates users.
Q Gilbert - Audio configuration error from iTunes
He got this error after updating iTunes. To speed up burning, you’ll need a faster burner. Uninstall both Quicktime and iTunes. Most problems with iTunes are related to Quicktime. First, install Quicktime by itself by getting the standalone installer. After that, install iTunes.
Q Ethan from Dana Point - Can’t drag or open (by double clicking) files
The way viruses get so sticky is by hooking into system files. Probably the virus had hooked into the explorer. Also, your system has been modified and it is highly likely more viruses have infected your system. You can use the Windows XP installation disc to run a Windows XP repair install.
Q Gary from New York - Video cards/Sound card
You only need video cards to run high resolution games or something of the like. Your motherboard video will be fine for Photoshop.
Q Eric from Sherman Oaks - Impossible to move certain video files to iPod
There is a very specific file format that the iPod uses. There are several converters on the Internet. AVI is not a file format; it is a container for several differently encoded files. MPEG-4 and h.264 are the only file types that will play on the iPod. Moreover, the files must be a certain resolution and a certain frame rate. Videora iPod converter is great, but it seems like you’re missing codecs.
Q David from San Pedro - Files getting corrupted
None of your files seem to be large enough to contain something. If there’s no data in the file, you can’t recover it. The best thing you can try is to go to pcinspector.de.

All Macs have Firewire and will recognize a camcorder. However, the iSight is a great webcam. On Windows, I like the QuickCam Ultra.
Q Ed - Seamonkey
Seamonkey is based off of the old Netscape browser, but follows the Mozilla project. It is perfect for people who regularly used the Netscape Suite, but without all the problems. Firefox is the simple, stripped down mode. They both have the same heritage. As far as Leo is aware, anything the Mozilla project does is good.
Q Jake from Florida - Installing Windows Vista
The Windows Vista installation is saying that his SATA drivers are incompatible. Vista has great driver support, but maybe Gigabyte is doing something strange. However, this is what Microsoft is doing between now and January: writing drivers like crazy.
Q Ash from Los Angeles - Harmony remotes

Logitech bought the Harmony. Leo likes the Harmony a lot. They are pricey, but highly customizable.
Q John from San Juan Capistrano - Live TV on your PC
He wants to know about programs that will allow you to stream television content over the Internet. You cannot stream your local channel 7, but you can watch TV shows from CBS or NBC, or you can purchase shows from iTunes.
