Show 25

Megan Morrone joins me on the show tomorrow to help with research and the show notes. We’ll call it The Screen Savers refugee show.

Our poll questiontoday: The EU fines Microsoft $617 million. Slap on the wrist or serious spanking? Cast your vote then see how others voted.

Poll Question #2: Should Scott digitize Marvin or Barry?

Mark in Santa Ana wants some suggestions for business scheduling software. Exchange, Lotus, Groupwise, or online services like Meetingplace.

Donna in Diamond Bar got bit. Twice. First she was phished, then she got a trojan horse virus.

Linda in Mission Viejo has many scratched CDs and DVDs and wants to recover them.

Brian in Palmdale is running Windows 98 - can he upgrade XP in place?

Scott in San Diego dating a lovely woman and wants to keep her by digitizing her record collection.

Madonna in Fallbrook has XP. It keeps crashing.

Steven in Fullerton wants to stop MSN from starting up. Unfortunately there’s no entry for MSN Messenger in XP’s Add/Remove Programs control panel. You can put the uninstall entry for MSN Messenger and other programs back with a little hack. It’s documented on The Screen Savers web site.

Mary in Long Beach is buying a new computer for her 80-year old neighbor and wants minimum specs. She’s also buying one for herself.
