Tip #1. Always keep your computer up-to-date by using Windows Update. This can be found by a) going to Start, then Windows Update b) Open up Internet Explorer and go to the tools menu, then select Windows Update. Follow the onscreen instructions.
This will help keep your computer running better and keep security problems down (although it will not prevent them completely). Do this at least once a month. (Added by Manuel from Leoville Town Square)

Tip #2. Just as in #1, every computer user should have and Anti-Virus program installed and up-to-date. Just because you have one installed doesn’t mean it will stop viruses; having one will only help make sure that you do not catch them as easily. It needs to be updated often as well — I usually recommend once a week to check for updates. One decent FREE anti-virus program is from http://www.grisoft.com (Added by Manuel from Leoville Town Square)

Just wanted to say thanks for the tip about adding extra memory to XP machines (last week?). I added 512M to an existing 256M PC, and it resulted in a “DRAMATIC” improvement in Visual Studio operation. I would have never guessed that 256M is a marginal amount of memory. /Steve J.

I put a small website together with various stuff in it. Look around.
