Firefox is also “faster” than MS IE. Give it a try, you would be dissapointed.

I know its copyrighted, but I figured that fair use applied (http://www.copyright.gov/fls/fl102.html), especially since I gave the firefox people credit, they didn’t lose anything, and I didn’t gain anything. Also, this site is basically open source, right? Anyone can edit it. I don’t think that the Mozilla Foundation would object to someone distributing an article that is free on their website in an easily edited format, especially since the distribution will only benefit them, when credit is given back to the firefox people.

In any case, though, I got the link from http://mozilla.org (the front page) under the Firefox heading. http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/switch.html. I know everyone is concerned about being sued in these days of 5 lawyers to every 1 human, so do with the below what you will, Leo. Your call… You’re the Mayor! :-)

Just a note to posters - I’m not sure if this is copyright material or not. In general it’s best not to paste material in from other web sites. Just insert a link to that site and explain what’s there. It’s not unusual for copyright holders to take offense when their material is lifted and posted whole on another site. Thanks!

I’m going to leave this up since The Mozilla Organization is a non-profit site, after all, and I’m sure they’d want people to know this information. Plus I can’t find the page it came from! ;-)

Describe SwitchingFromIEToFirefox here.

to:

For anyone wants to leave IE once and for all… Heres a guide from the Firefox people directly.

The following describes how to switch to Mozilla Firefox from Microsoft Internet Explorer. We are providing these instructions due to the recent exploits in Internet Explorer and the recommendation to switch to an alternative browser, such as Firefox, by the United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT), a division of the Department of Homeland Security.
Getting Mozilla Firefox

   1. To download Mozilla Firefox, go to http://getfirefox.com and select “Download Now!”
   2. When asked to ‘Open the file’ or ‘Save it to your computer’, select ‘Open’ to begin installation. If you save it to your computer, save the file to your desktop and double-click the FirefoxSetup−0.9.2.exe to start the install.
   3. Users can also purchase the Mozilla CD from the Mozilla Store http://store.mozilla.org which includes Mozilla Firefox.

About Your IE Settings

Firefox imports your existing settings from Internet Explorer. An import wizard will run when you first install Firefox (and is also available later through the File menu, File > Import), and it imports your Favorites, Internet Options, cookies, stored passwords, and a variety of other data. This saves you time customizing Firefox to fit your needs.
Browser Plug-ins, Add-ons, and Toolbars
Many of the plug-ins, add-ons, and toolbars that you may have installed for Internet Explorer are also available for Mozilla Firefox, including:

    * Macromedia Flash Player (http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash), Apple QuickTime (http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/), Real Networks RealPlayer (http://www.real.com/freeplayer/?rppr=rnwk), Windows Media Player (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/default.aspx), Adobe Acrobat Reader (http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html), and Sun Microsystems Java Plug-in (http://java.sun.com/products/plugin/downloads/index.html)
    * Google Toolbar (http://update.mozilla.org/extensions/?application=)

There are also over 50 extensions that are available for Mozilla Firefox to extend the functionality of Firefox even more. (http://update.mozilla.org/extensions/?application=)

Firefox’s Features

  • Tabbed Browsing: Instead of opening a separate browser window for each site you want to visit, you can open multiple sites within the same window when using tabs. You can also set a group of tabs as your home page.
  • Pop-up Blocker: Lets you allow or suppress both popup and popunder windows.
  • Cookie Manager: Lets you change what Firefox will do when accepting cookies.
  • Download Manager: Organizes your downloads by storing them in a single window to minimize clutter. You have full access to download statistics without using unnecessary multiple windows for each download.
