QuickSilver

Free
Quicksilver gives you the ease of quickly locating and launching your applications much like you do with “start…run” or “start…all programs” in Wndows XP. Frequently used commands can be bound to triggers, giving you the ability to execute them immediately by hitting a hot key or using the mouse on a corner or edge of the screen.

Audio Hijack

$16 from Rogue Amoeba
If you listen to web radio you need Audio Hijack. It allows you to record audio from any OS X application. It also allows you to apply EQ and effects to any audio app (No more hissy internet radio!!!). Free demo available.

SoundSource

FREE from Rogue Amoeba
No I don’t work for Rogue Amoeba, these guys just make great cheap and free Mac software. SoundSource allows you to route Audio from various sources to different outputs on your Mac. Also allows very fast switching of input and output sources. for example, you can send iTunes audio to your sound card and system sounds to the little speaker on the front of your computer. The interface resides in thee menu bar and the program uses virtually no system resources.

Cyberduck

FREE from David Kocher of Switzerland
Macworld gave this free FTP browser four mice. It is an open source SFTP and FTP brower that supports multiple connections, drag and drop and Keychain and Rendezvous. Integrates seamlessly with SuEthaEdit and BBEdit. English, Dutch, German, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Portugese, Spanish, Finnish, Slovak and Czech versions available.

Hymn

Free
Strips the copy protection from iTunes songs without in any way degrading the quality. A must have for people who buy from the iTunes music store. (Note: this is not intended for piracy. Hymn leaves your email address in the file. It is intended for honest people who want to be able to use their music as they choose.)

Adium

Free
Very nice instant messaging client for Mac OS X. Works with many different services and networks including AIM, MSN, Yahoo, and others. You can customize it until the cows come home with message views, contact list themes, sounds, dock icons, etc. It is open source with a very active online forum for support and feedback.

Colloquy

Free
Tackie’s favorite IRC client for Mac which was recommended during Show #96.

Little Snitch

USD 24.95
Little Snitch is an application supervisor, another Tackie’s favorite Mac program which was recommended during Show #96.
