Samsung's new Galaxy Note 8, like the Galaxy S8, has eliminated most of the bezel giving it a larger 6.3" screen, which Samsung refers to as the Infinity Display. It still fits comfortably in your hand, because of its symmetric curves and the 18.5:9 aspect ratio which gives it a narrow body. The Home button is embedded underneath the Infinity Display so it stays hidden until it is needed.
Like previous Note smartphones, the Galaxy Note 8 includes an S Pen that can be used for a variety of tasks. It has a 0.7mm tip, and 4096 pressure levels so it will respond accurately based on how hard you're pressing. You can immediately take handwritten notes on the phone, without even having to unlock the phone. When you're done, you can pin it so it stays on the Always On Display, or you can save it to Samsung Notes. You can use the S Pen to capture and annotate articles, select a portion of video to create your own GIF, and include hand-drawings when messaging people.
The camera on the Note 8 has a dual camera, so it has 2x optical zoom and dual optical image stabilization. It has a Live Focus feature that allows you to take bokeh shots that make your subject stand out. You can even adjust the level of background blur afterwards. It has a 12MP dual pixel sensor and a bright F1.7 lens, making it better for low light photography as well. It has specific modes for shooting different things, including a food mode, panorama, and a pro mode so you have more control over the shot. Its selfie camera is 8MP, and has Smart Auto Focus that tracks faces in the shot.
Samsung's Galaxy Note 8 has a 10nm mobile processor with 6GB of RAM. It has gigabit LTE and WiFi. It has a microSD card slot for expandable memory up to 256GB, can support dual SIMs, and has wireless charging. It has multiple biometric authentication options, including a fingerprint reader on the back of the phone, iris scan, and face recognition. It's also water and dust resistant. Internal storage options are 64GB, 128GB, or 256GB.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 starts at $929, and is available for pre-order now. It comes in four color choices: Midnight Black, Deepsea Blue, Orchid Gray, and Maple Gold.
