Chris Marquardt on Photography

Episode 1379 (1:21:50)

Chris Marquardt

Chris says that with Spring, people are more likely to break out their cameras just to take pictures. The light is better, and the weather is warmer. As such, here are three exercises to get back in the groove:

1. Take a picture every day. Spend a few minutes. You don't have to go anywhere other than your garden. Just take some pictures of something. It'll also serve to help remind you to keep your camera ready and charged all the time. It keeps you in the groove.
2. Fill the frame of your picture.
3. Try to think about what you're shooting. Think about photo composition. What kind of story are you conveying? What's the background like? Even the most mundane pictures can be made more interesting with composition. And it's good practice in making every shot count.

Don't forget our current assignment - "Turn." Take a photo of, about or otherwise concerning the concept of "Turn" and then post it to the Tech Guy Group on Flickr. Make sure to tag it with the word "Turn" as well! And if Chris likes it, it could end up on next month's photo contest review segment!
